Profiles in Telehealth: Kate Dunn - Senior Recruiter
Get to know Wheel Senior Recruiter, Kate Dunn!
What’s your role at Wheel?
I'm a Senior Recruiter here at Wheel and started with the company in October of 2020. When I started, there were about 30 people at the company. Since then, we have grown to 160+ and are looking to double in size by the end of this year.
My role is to help make that happen! I recruit for all of our non-technical teams. This includes our Operations, Marketing, G&A, Leadership, and Sales teams. A day in the life involves tons of phone calls and partnering with hiring managers to make sure we're bringing on top talent to the already incredible Wheel team! :)
What’s your background? What did you do before working with Wheel?
I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Austin, Texas a little over 10 years ago. I went to college in Syracuse, New York and got my degree at LeMoyne College where I played DII basketball. I learned a lot from balancing school and sports. It taught me about time management in my professional career.
I've spent half of my career in HR and the latter half in Recruiting. I've mainly worked across smaller/growing companies in the tech space here in Austin.
I recently got married at the end of 2021 and love spending time with my husband and 3 dogs outside of work! We love traveling to visit friends, seeing live music in Austin, and taking our pups on hiking adventures.
Why did you join the Wheel team?
I joined Wheel because of the team and the growth of the company. I love being able to help grow a team and help set up systems and processes. It's been a great ride so far and I enjoy seeing the tremendous impact we've made as a team over the last year and a half.
What’s your favorite Wheel moment?
I really enjoy partnering with the hiring managers here at Wheel. They really care about the candidate experience and bringing on the right people, for the right role.
It's not just about if a candidate is a good fit for us, but if we are a good fit for them. Our team works together throughout the interview process and to make sure we're in sync every step of the way. (I also love Nsync so I had to mention that where I could.)
What do you think the future of healthcare holds?
I'm excited about the work Wheel is doing to ensure healthcare is available to all.
We're helping people realize healthcare can be delivered in different forms and the boundaries between in-person and virtual care are blurring. That's something I think everyone can get behind. We're here to help move healthcare forward in a way that works for today’s increasingly virtual world.
Thanks, Kate, for all your hard work with The Wheel Team! We appreciate everything you do.
