Profiles in Telehealth: Emily Keating - Director of Commercial Strategy and Operations
Get to know Wheel Director of Commercial Strategy and Operations - Emily Keating!
What’s your role at Wheel?
My role is Director of Commercial Strategy and Operations. I have three core focus areas:
- Commercial Operations: Making sure teams (Customer Success, Sales, GTM Solutions, etc.) have the processes, data & reporting, tooling & infrastructure they need to be successful in their roles
- Enablement: Elevating the organization via content, training, coaching, & best practice sharing
- Sales Development: Driving new leads, then converting top of funnel traffic into new revenue-generating opportunities for Wheel
What’s your background? What did you do before working with Wheel?
I am originally from Canada. I moved to Los Angeles in middle school and eventually landed in Austin, Texas for University (Hook'Em!). Austin is home, I love it here. Outside of work, I like to spend my time running the trail, hiking with my dog, golfing, playing pickleball, baking, spending time on the lake, and traveling.
Prior to joining Wheel, I was with a startup in the prescription discount space called RxSaver. There, I had the opportunity to build and lead a sales team from the ground up. A lot of my time early on was spent on building the pitch, strategy, processes, and infrastructure that were ultimately used to drive growth. The team scaled from 0 to 75 sellers across the U.S. I left RxSaver to join Wheel when we were going through an acquisition with GoodRX.
Why did you join the Wheel team?
I joined the Wheel team in March of 2021 after having the opportunity to meet with several leaders across the company. I sensed the passion, the strong and healthy culture, and the momentum around what they were building.
There were only 4 people on the commercial team when I joined. At that point, I was plugging in to help wherever I could add value (much like everyone else wearing a lot of hats!). Fast forward a year, we have close to 40 team members, cleaner processes, better data for decision making, and strong teams in place who work diligently to support our customers on a daily basis. It's incredible to look back and think about all of the progress that has been made by the team in such a short amount of time.
What’s your favorite Wheel moment?
My most memorable Wheel moment has to be the 'Wheel Live' event we hosted earlier this year in Austin. Team members from across the country came in to reflect on progress, strategize for the future, celebrate accomplishments together as a team, and to have fun! I learned that we have a lot of karaoke talent on this team...
What do you think the future of healthcare holds?
What excites me the most about the future of virtual care is that it will become more and more integrated into the overall care landscape. This means better access and more cohesive patient experiences. There's a long way to go, but I'm excited to be part of the journey!
Thanks, Emily, for all your hard work with The Wheel Team! We appreciate everything you do.
