Profiles in Telehealth: An APRN and New Mom Shares Why She Practices in Virtual Care
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Kelly E., tells us how providing both virtual and in-person care gives her the option and flexibility to put the needs of her growing family first.
What’s your background? What did you do before practicing telemedicine?
I’ve been practicing as an APRN for 8 years. I currently practice with Wheel and at my local urgent care in Connecticut and am loving it!
What’s your life like outside of work?
I love to spend time with my husband, Tucker, and our dog, Moose. We love being outside and spending time with our family and friends. Not to mention, we had our first baby this October!
What brought you to telemedicine?
My dear friend, Jessica V., introduced me to Wheel and I am forever thankful for the introduction. I have been with Wheel for about a year. There is nothing better than helping patients from the comfort of your own home.
What’s your Wheel Moment of Freedom?
I love the flexibility and freedom of working from home while still being able to work full time at my local urgent care. With the addition of our little one this October, I have the flexibility of being able to work more from home. I am so thankful for this opportunity and it is so wonderful to be able to help patients from all over the country through our platform.
What do you think the future of healthcare holds?
While the COVID-19 pandemic troubled every aspect of 2020, telemedicine flourished and grew immensely. I felt this on a local level as well as with Wheel. This is a huge accomplishment and truly a positive outcome of what was a very difficult year for all of us. My hope is that telemedicine and access to digital healthcare continues to grow for both clinicians and patients!
Thanks, Kelly, for being an essential member of the #WheelCareTeam!
